Patriotism Essay: There was a period in our history when the gap between patriotism and politics was nominal but unfortunately today this gap is so wide that no bridge can cover the distance.
“Let our object be our country, our whole country and nothing but our country” – Daniel Webster
“Love of country is one of the loftiest virtues.” – E. A. Storrs
“There is no gambling like politics” – Desraeli
“To be a chemist, you must study chemistry, to be a lawyer, or a physician, you must study law or medicine, but to be a politician, you need only to study your own interests.” – Max O’Rell

Short Essay on Patriotism 150 Words for kids and Students in English
Below we have given a short essay on Patriotism of 150-200 words is for Classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. This short essay on the topic is suitable for students of class 6 and below.
A patriot has the will and yearning to sacrifice himself for the country while a politician cannot sacrifice himself for anyone. If there is will or yearning, it is to save himself only and the yearning is for power. There can be found no Abhinandan Vartman in politics. Patriotism does not relate to power while power is the lifeline of politics.
In patriotism, there is no place for selfishness. Everyone and everything take second place after patriotism. Only the thought of one’s own country is there. Everything else is secondary.
As there is no selfishness, in the feeling of true patriotism, in today’s politics, selfishness and only selfishness rules. If a politician’s party wins, and comes in power, it means that the treasury of the country is his or hers and only he/she, his/her family, friends and relatives are going to enjoy the booty. The country or its related patriotism may go to hell. I don’t mean to say that politics is like this, or all the politicians are corrupt, most of them are such and they give bad name to politics.
Honesty, truth, a burning desire to die for one’s country, no thought of one’s own safety, ambition only to live and die for one’s country, to be proud of one’s own motherland are the basics of patriotism and a patriot lives by them and dies for them.
In politics, today there is no one above the person in power. To live in luxury, having money deposited in foreign banks and a golden future are the principles of today’s politics and its politicians.
No names are needed. Public can be fooled but not always.
Today it is our misfortune that the politicians are not patriots. It is said that ‘Hope springs eternal in the human breast.’ We can only hope that this May Day may come to an end and politics may be intertwined with patriotism again.
