  1. Caste Certificate: This certificate states that an individual belongs to a particular caste which is recognised by the Indian Constitution
  2. Community Certificate: This certificate states that an individual belongs to a particular community – usually for Reserved Categories – such as SC, ST and OBCs
  3. Conversion Certificate: This certificate is issued to an individual as proof of their conversion from one religion to another
  4. Dependency Certificate: A dependency certificate is a declaration that an individual/group of people (usually senile/ very young/ handicapped individuals) is dependent on another for their sustenance and well-being.
  5. Destitute Certificate: This certificate is issued to an individual who does not have the basic necessities of life. Such certificates are required to claim benefits from the government.
  6. Domicile Certificate: This certificate is issued to an individual to prove that they are a resident of that particular state. This certificate is also called a residence certificate.
  7. Family Membership Certificate: A family membership certificate is shown by the members of a family and their relationships to other members of the family. This document is usually required for the purpose of settling claims in respect of a deceased family member.
  8. Identification Certificate: Also called an Identity Certificate, it is issued by the Passport Seva, Consular, Passport and Visa Division of the Ministry of External Affairs (GOI) to non-citizens of India. It is also called an “Alien’s passport”.
  9. Income Certificate: An income certificate is a certificate provided to the citizen by the government testifying their annual income. It is valid for all legal and official purposes.
  10. Inter-Caste Marriage Certificate: An Inter-Caste Marriage Certificate is issued to a couple, where one individual belongs to a Scheduled caste while the other belongs to a Non-scheduled caste. This certificate is usually sought to avail financial assistance from the government.
  11. Land Certificate: A land certificate is issued by the land registry to the respective proprietor of that land, the title of which is governed under the Land Registration Acts.
  12. Legal Heir Certificate: This certificate is issued to the kin of the deceased and it is a legal requirement for transferring the assets of the deceased
  13. Life Certificate: Life certificates are required by pensioners to access their pension. This is given by various government offices and agencies
  14. Location Certificate: A location certificate is an official document provided by the government to its citizens. It contains the general plan of the property and the geographical positions of all the elements present in that property.
  15. Minority Certificate: This certificate states that an individual belongs to a minority community. In the state of Kerala, minority communities include Sikhs, Buddhists, Christians, Parsis, etc.
  16. Nativity Certificate: A nativity certificate is a document issued by state governments that certifies that the applicant or their parents/ grandparents lived in that particular state.
  17. Non-Creamy Layer Certificate: Non-creamy layer certificate is also known as an OBC certificate (other backward classes). Hence, it is issued to individuals who belong to OBC groups. It is usually required to avail government benefits.
  18. Non-ReMarriage Certificate: Generally, this certificate is issued for women whose spouse is divorced, dead or deserted. This certificate is claimed for financial assistance for such women.
  19. One and the Same Certificate: This certificate is used to declare that two or more names pertain to the same individual. This certificate is required if the same person uses two or more names in different documents.
  20. Possession Certificate: Possession Certificate is a document that a property seller provides to a property buyer stating the date of possession. It is usually issued by either the Tehsildar or the Revenue Divisional Officer.
  21. Relationship Certificate: A relationship certificate is a legal document that is issued only in respect of parents and spouse on the basis of the applicant’s passport. It is required to prove relationships between parents and their children.
  22. Residence Certificate: A residence certificate is also called a domicile certificate. It is used to prove that a person is a resident of a particular state or the union territory.
  23. Solvency Certificate: A solvency certificate is a legal document that provides information about the financial stability of an entity or an individual. This certificate is required by commercial and government offices or for other purposes, such as applying for tenders.
  24. Valuation Certificate: A valuation certificate is a legal document that is used to prove the value of the property in the hometown of the applicant. This is usually used in the state of Kerala and can be used as collateral for taking loans.
